Actually, my journey to Mumbai & Goa from Guwahati was started on by Kamrup Express with my family. There are many options to reach Goa from Guwahati by train, but we made reservations in three different trains breaking our journey at Howrah, Mumbai (CST or may say VT) and finally my destination Madagan. My onwards and returned journeys by trains are –

But one can also reach GOA(Madgaon) from Guwahati by Rajdhani (train) to New Delhi and then From New Delhi to Goa (Madgaon) by Express trains.
Another option is direct to Mumbai by superfast train from Guwahati and then Madgaon from Mumbai. Madgaon is the junction station of Kankan railway, all trains to or from GOA terminate or originate here. It is about a 760 km train journey through Konkan Railway, takes through 90-meter-high bridges and a number of tunnels.

One important thing I felt to mention here is that if the journey starts from the Mumbai side and one has to go main tourist spots of GOA, better to decide first where to stay in GOA.
In my opinion, it is better to stay either at Panaji (Capital of Goa, South Goa) or at Calangute (North Goa). If one wants to stay at Panjim /Panaji should stop at Karmali Railway station (before Madgaon) which is nearest to Panjim. And at Trivim railway station (before Karmali) for tourists interested to stay at Calangute.
In Goa , there is no meter auto or taxi, auto or taxi fare is not reasonable in comparison with other cities. So, it is better to go long distance journeys by bus. As a visitor, you have the option to "RENT A BIKE" or "RENT A CAR" to get around Goa, which you can afford for Rs. 300 for a bike and Rs. 2000 for a car every day. In this case, the rental fee per day is what matters, not the vehicle's or bike's carrying capacity.

This sea beach is located at a distance of 173 km from Kolkata and only 14 km from Digha. It is important to remember that there is no proper road for the last 6 km to reach Mandarmani, which forces to drive along the beach . If you like you can reach mandarmani by an alternative way through a village road , the condition of the road is almost fair but having a numbers of speed breakers as it passes through dense vegetation and some population on both sides. There are no lights or any other amenities in this locality. This road extend for another 3-5 km. It's best to cover the whole stretch ( i.e from Chawalkhola to Mandarmani) before dark.
Mandarmoni beach is different from Digha beach. Travellers who like secluded place, this unexplored sea beach is best for them – is really free from the hurly-burly of our daily life in city. Mandarmani will be appreciated for its serenity and its beach resorts.

One thing is associated with this beach is serenity & beauty. Tourist who are fond of lonely place (beach) may relax, swim and enjoy the beach. It is doubtful that anybody will disturb privacy of the tourists as because only a few visitors may be found around.
Most of tourists spend time here by walking between resort and beach. If anyone want to travel longer distances, it is advisable to restrain their excitement to drive on the beach more than necessary. While driving on the beach some points to be always keep in mind that :-
Be attach to the main part of the beach while driving. In some places at the end of beach there are soft sand dunes or mud which may catch trapped your car while driving. So be careful to drive on established tracks only.
Avoid driving on the beach after dark as because no local people will available there for help.
It is always better to have a torch with you at all times after dark. On the beach, there is no electricity and after dark the only sources of light are generators or batteries.powered lights of the small beach-side shops.
In the evening, the high tide causes the sea to rise. and in evening sea extends up to one forth of the beach. So, one find sea is more nearer in the evening then daytime.
Food at Mandarmani a bit costly as all materials are bought from far market Contai or Kalindi. Here most of the hotels/ resorts serve Bengali food and also Chinese food. The costing of meals approx. Rs. 550/- for per day per head. Generally small shop at beach side sells tea and snack but they also supply meals if order are placed in advance. Crab and prawn are other items to take with meals, but it is better to bargain the price in advance.
People, who love drinks, remember price of alcohol is almost double here. Only little variety is available from the shop near beach. People who do not like alcohol may drink green coconut water easily available in this locality.
How to access Mandarmani ? If anyone fond of long drive from Kolkata by car , remember the trip is for 3.5 to 4 hours drive to reach Mandarmani.

Kolaghat - Mecheda= 3 km
Mecheda – Contai = 80 km
Contai – Chawalkhola = 12 km
Chawalkhola - Kalindi = 4 km
Kalindi – Dadanpatrabar = 4 km
Dadanpatrabar -Mandarmani = 6 km Total 172 km.
Again , to access Mandarmani from Kharagpur one have to follow Chennai Highway. This is good road but very busy highway, all vehicle are running at high speed. At the point BELDA have to be left this highway and by turning left through Belda village get reach at EGRA. From Egra to CONTAI , from where the road extends towards CHWALKHOLA. . Then this road will again extend towards DADANPATRABAR village where one can drive through the beach or follow the village road to reach Mandarmani.
Note : It's best to cover the whole stretch from Chawalkhola to Mandarmani before dark because in this locality there are no electric lights or any other amenities and to get help from local people is difficult after dark.
By Bus
From Kolkata : CSTC or WBSTC buses for Digha, leave at Esplanade or at Howrah headed for Chawalkhola / Digha almost every hour. The only air-conditioned bus leaves at 7AM. Mandarmani tourists get down at Chawalkhola which is a few kilometers before reaching Digha. From Chawlkhola there are cycle-rickshaws and auto-rickshaw which you can take to Dadanpatrabar or direct to Mandarmoni. Hire cars are also available from Chawalkhola to Mandarmoni.
From Kharagpur : Frequent bus are plying from Kharagpur main bus stand just near Kharagpur Railway station. Approx. 4 hours to reach Chawlkhola , fare Rs 100.00-160.00 per head.
By Trains.
The nearest railway station to Mandarmani is Digha Flag Station. It takes around four hours from Howrah to Digha by train. From Digha railway station , by road can easily be reached Mandarmani within /less then an hour.

The endeavour aims to surpass the allure of Goa, making Digha, Mandarmani, and Shankarpur the preferred beach destinations for avid tourists. In furtherance of this dream, two majestic gateways shall grace the landscape—one situated on Kolkata - Digha Road in Old Digha, and the other near the New Digha Railway Station. Additionally, a revamp of the Egra to Contai road link is in the offing, enhancing accessibility and convenience.
Recently, the Digha Shankarpur Development Authority (DSDA) convened a momentous board meeting, marked by a series of resolute decisions to elevate the coastal belt to unprecedented grandeur. Alongside the prominent Digha gate, landscaping endeavors shall extend to two other locations, adorned with the charm of roadside beautification undertaken by the local hotels.
In an effort to augment the hospitality landscape, a plot adjoining Udaipur beach, a few kilometers from New Digha, shall soon be auctioned to house a coveted three-star hotel. Simultaneously, a budget-friendly hotel shall grace the unfinished structure in Digha, where the top floor will be graciously dedicated to the DSDA.
Prioritizing the safety of tourists, the authorities shall appoint vigilant 'Nulias' to oversee the well-being of visitors in the aquatic realm, a response to the disconcerting occurrences of recent drownings. Moreover, the construction of an electric crematorium on the route to Digha mohana is on the horizon.
To expand the recreational offerings, the DSDA intends to invite private players through expressions of interest for the establishment of a captivating rope-way in Amravati Park, an enchanting lure for tourists. Addressing perennial water-logging concerns, the authorities shall undertake drainage initiatives in critical regions, while the forest department assumes a proactive role in expediting afforestation efforts throughout the area.
Through visionary foresight and strategic planning, the transformation of Digha into a captivating coastal destination is set to captivate the hearts of wanderers far and wide. A tapestry of distinctiveness and charm shall weave its spell, placing Digha firmly on the map as the quintessential gem of the Eastern shoreline.
Digha is easily accessible from different parts of Kolkata by Bus. And also from some specific railway stations of West Bengal & Orrissa by Train .
By Bus :-
Generally bus journey takes only 4 to 5 hours from Kolkata. Onecan find regular bus service to Digha from Bus Terminus an Garia. Frequent buses starts running early morning to evening upto 8pm. Regular night bus service also available from the State transport depot. Bus service to Digha is also available from Tollygunj, Jadavpur, Rajpur, Sonarpur, Dharamtala, Barrackpore, Kudghat Bus Stand, Dumdum station and Bus Stand near Ruby General Hospital. There is also regular & frequent bus service from Howrah , buses starts for Digha almost whole the day at interval of every 30 minutes
By Train :-
At least three regular trains runs between Howrah and Digha. Kandari, Tamralipta & Duronto Express are main trains just taking 3:30 to 2:30 hours to Digha. Train No. 2847 Duronto Express leaves Howrah at 11.15 which runs nonstop to Digha is also great journey of experience. Trains schedule to leave Howrah at 6.40AM, 11.45 AM and 2.15PM daily. There is one weekly train from New Jalpaiguri name PAHARIA Exp. On Saturday. There is also Train between Digha and Puri.
There are only two trains returning from Digha to Howrah on Sunday. One is at noon 1.30PM and another in the evening at 6PM. Another local train leaving Digha at early in the morning goes to Santragachi , is a little troublesome to the tourists whose destination is Howrah.
As Digha is nearest holiday sea resort for Kolkattans, it always better to get reservation for this journey on Saturday, Sunday & on all other holidays to avoid huge rush on those days.

In the morning reaching MANALI bus stand, boarded in service bus for MANIKARAN. It is 84 km far from the town MANALI. By turning KULLU-MANALI road at BHUNTER and crossing a bridge over river PARVATI, moved toward MANIKARAN.BHUNTER is the air-field in KULLU valley. From this air-field more fruits (Apples etc ) are flies than passengers to the nearby airports. The local service bus took too much stoppages in the different places for passengers. No different than other hilly place but slight rude hilly scenery is seen in this valley. River PARVATI was always accompanied flowing along my left side. Sometimes PARVATI vanished in deep slope of hill and again suddenly reappeared. Many SIKH pilgrimage were returning by reserved bus, truck and cars from MANIKARAN.
Manikaran is a famous pilgrimage site of the Hindus and Sikhs that is located in the district of Kullu. The ancient name of MANIKARAN was KALANTA PEETH. World’s hottest spring is found here. A Hindu mythological story of SHIVA – PARVATI made the place popular. Afterward, Sikh preacher GURU NANAK discovered the place newly and since than a Gurudwarawas constructed by the side of the KUND and river PARVATI.
Then our bus was running descending at the level of river PARVATI, the bank was full of slightly thick dense forest. Running at the same level of river in the hilly region is really enjoyable journey. After a while, road was ascending again reaching a rocky place where workers were cutting rocks to widen the road.. The place was like a tunnel and in some places rocks were hanging over heads.
Reaching MANIKARAN River PARVATI found very furious, gradually her gargling voice changed and flowing steeply with continuous roaring. River PARVATI was in our left side and to reach KUND we had to walk on a beautiful bridge over the furious stream.
Temple, Gurudwara, Hotels etc all are located in this side of the bank. From the bus stop the scenery of the river keeping all Gurudwara, Temple, Hotels etc in background looks so worthy seldom to express here. Specially two link bridge to Gurudwara over river PARVATI is a beauty scenery.
In Manikaran Gurudwara Sahib is situated on this side of Parvati Valley. There are some world famous hot springs at Manikaran. The water of these hot springs is famous for healing or remedy of diseases. The water is so hot that one can boil rice in it. Manikaran, a place of pilgrimage for Hindus and Sikhs. In Guru Nanak Ji Gurudwara have some beautiful enchanting sights to enjoy. One can enjoy a dip in the hot waters springs. There are three baths, one is under the Groupware and other two are situated in the guesthouses.
After crossing the bridge, moved through a lane towards KUND and Gurudwara. Ram Temple is seen just in right side. Going further found hot water KUND with bathing facility.I took hot water washing my mouth and head and again walked towards main KUND and Gurudwara. A little ahead found SHIVA temple in left side, which is surrounded by enchanting landscape. The temple was constructed just adjacent river PARVATI and clouds of smoke from the HOT KUND were floating in air around the temple. Bare footed visitors took their place on a wooden platform, as nearby floor was very hot. Some saints were taking rest and some were sitting in religious devotional feelings under a shed in front of the temple.
I also took a little rest sitting along with the saints. I took some photographs here. Adjacent the temple hot water KUND is connoted to nearby bathing ghat in two artificially made tanks , one for gents and other for ladies. In the side of Gurudwara several bathing places are constructed under a roof. Moving alone in the surroundings I felt hungry in the noon. All shops and restaurants were closed then. In Gurudwara visitors can have free food. I lastly, when visited Ram temple found a LANGER in the temple campus where I was served rice , dal & sabji . I took these with great satisfaction. The prasad was very delicious , with immense pleasure I deposited some money in DANPATRA.
To return back to my guest house I came to the Bus stand which is on the other side of the bank and started for MANALI. In this summer month of July I felt very warmth under the bright sunshine up to my journey KULLU and it was then dark when I reached here. Finally it was 9.30 pm in the night when I came back to Guest House at MANALI.
